IDS performs construction and training services in support of the Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI). This program is a U.S. Department of State security assistance initiative, focused on building international peacekeeping capacity worldwide, in close collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense.
GPOI program key objectives are:
– Build self-sufficient peace operations training capacity in partner countries;
– Support partner countries’ development and employment of critical enabling capabilities;
– Enhance partner nation operational readiness and sustainment capabilities;
– Strengthen partner nation rapid deployment capabilities;
– Expand the role of women and enhance gender integration;
– Build UN and regional organization capabilities.
GPOI’s mission is to enhance the capacities and capabilities of its African Partner Countries, regional institutions, and the continent’s peacekeeping resources as a whole so that they can plan for, train, deploy, and sustain sufficient quantities of professionally competent peacekeepers to meet conflict transformation requirements with minimal non-African assistance.
Note: GPOI is the program formerly referred to as Africa Contingency Operations Training & Assistance (ACOTA).
Niger & Burkina Faso Peace Mission Training Centers Construction
IDS is performing a wide array of construction and renovation contracts in support of the U.S. Department of State’s Global Peace Operation Initiative (GPOI). IDS is building and modifying the Peace Mission Training Center (PMTC) infrastructure, enabling continued development of training capacity, with facilities that meet the needs of the training staff and audience. IDS’s construction work is focused on completing structures that were built, but never finished, including perimeter security, latrine and shower facilities, improving access to commercial water and increasing water pressure, etc. Self sufficiency for the Ghana Armed Forces cannot happen if they do not have basic, operational training facilities. IDS is helping provide that.
Ghana Peace Mission Training Center Water Enhancement Project
IDS’s work building and modifying the Peace Mission Training Center’s infrastructure continues with the Water Enhancement Project. Within this program, we will plan, resource, design, supervise, and facilitate the construction of a water supply network a the PMTC. A critical advancement for the PMTC, as this is another step toward self-sufficiency for the Ghana Armed Forces.
