Nick Dowling

Nick Dowling is the founder and president of IDS International. He is responsible for all aspects of the company’s business, including strategy, business development and operations. Under Mr. Dowling's leadership, IDS has become the leading provider of training on interagency coordination and “smart power” in conflict zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

Over the past two decades, his career has focused on stability operations and interagency coordination in both the public and private sectors. In his government service, Mr. Dowling worked to end the Balkan wars. He was Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council (NSC) where he coordinated Bosnia and Kosovo policy. Mr. Dowling has also worked as a defense fellow in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, as a senior fellow at the National Defense University and as a policy advisor for two presidential campaigns and a U.S. Senate campaign.

Mr. Dowling has a Bachelor’s from Harvard College and a Master’s in National Security Studies from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
